Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard will not be in next matchs

Liverpool’s Fernando Torres is out for six weeks and Steven Gerrard a fortnight after injuries picked up in the FA Cup defeat by Reading. Midfielder Yossi Benayoun will also be out for up to a month.Gerrard and Torres both underwent scans early on Thursday after coming off during the 2-1 defeat at Anfield, and the Spanish striker may not play again until March as he needs an operation on his knee.
“Steven has a hamstring strain and will be out for a fortnight, while Fernando has torn a cartilage in his right knee. The injury will require surgery and he is expected to be sidelined for six weeks,” said a club spokesman.
“Yossi Benayoun also suffered a fractured rib in the game and will be unavailable for between three and four weeks.”
All three will miss games against Stoke, Tottenham and Wolves with Gerrard hoping to return to face Bolton on January 30. If Benayoun is out for three weeks, he will also miss Bolton and possibly the Merseyside derby with Everton on February 6.
Torres will not feature in any of those games or further Premier League matches against Arsenal and Manchester City and the two-legged Europa League clash with Romanian team Unirea Urziceni.
It comes as another hammer blow to beleaguered manager Rafael Benitez, whose side were booed off after losing at home to lower league opposition on Wednesday.
