Laura Robson out of qualifying at the Australian Open


Laura Robson lost to former world number 30 Michaella Krajicek in her second qualifying match at the Australian Open.The 15-year old lost 6-4 7-6 to the Dutch player who now faces Angelique Kerber for a place in the main draw.
Robson, who was a beaten finalist in the junior event at Melbourne Park last year, was awarded a wildcard to qualifying following her performances alongside Andy Murray at last week’s Hopman Cup.
Naomi Cavaday was crushed 6-0 6-1 by Belgian world number 16 Yanina Wickmayer.
Wickmayer was not entered to the main draw following her suspension for falling foul of the controversial whereabout doping rule, a ban that was lifted on appeal before Christmas.
Elena Baltacha and Katie O’Brien are in the main draw where they will play Pauline Parmentier and Patricia Mayr respectively.
Daniel Smith lost 6-1 6-2 to Santiago Ventura of Spain which leaves Andy Murray has the only British player in the men’s event.
